How to lose the colors of my homemade cotton quilts?
20 years ago I had a sewing machine, cotton gingham coverlet patchwork. For 10 years, residing in storage and then started to use it. I washed from time to time without any problems. We just moved to Minnesota and I have started to wash over (I have a baby …). However, only began to notice that the dark colors seem to bleed into the lighter colors. (Does freshwater Minnesota doing that?) I think that has gone through the dryer so that the colors have not been resolved in this way. How can I avoid (and hopefully back) bleeding?
Sounds like a work of "colored sensor" http://www.shoutitout.com/preserve-colors.aspx and / or a good looooong soaked Retayne: http://www.dharmatrading.com/html/eng/2935174 -AA.shtml followed by washing with something like synthrapol. I use Retayne for cottons, but I know many are happy with Quilters color sensors.
