Did you know that the sun can create beautiful fabric?
Imagine having something as boring as a board and create a beautiful piece of fabric.
Sounds ridiculous, right? And maybe a gasket is a simplistic example, but why not a BBQ? Maybe some feathers leaves, trees, wheat, or even a design with tape.
Almost anything to do, although the results are better if the object is flat and remains valid for 10-15 minutes. For example, a black man alive, although flat, probably not a good choice for this type of art.
But back to our other examples – I guess it took 1 / 2 "wide tape and made a kind of tile design it, then it could become so in the blue and white design on the fabric.
It is quite possible, and has been for hundreds of years, thanks, John Herschel. You see, Sir John English was a mathematician, astronomer, chemist, experimental photographer and inventor. Also was the father of 12 children and the son of Sir William Herschel, the famous astronomer.
In short, was brilliant, busy guy. He discovered he could create images permanently in a beautiful assortment of blue by soaking the paper or canvas with the right chemicals and then expose it to sunlight.
It was in 1842, and soon one of his neighbors are using the new process for creating art prints. It was not long for artists to create fabric art fabric using the same process we know as sunprints.
They are fun and easy to make and the good news is that you do not require a chemical to make them. It is not necessary to store chemicals. It's easy to find pre-treatment of tissue make their sunprint, but the process is basically the same, and the result can seem modern or look old
Pre-treatment of fabric should come in special packaging that prevents exposure to light. Enlarge image "in the same sunprint fund the development of a photograph – An old-fashioned it is. Digital photography does not count.
Basically, to create the design of your choice, use of objects – sticks teeth, pressed flowers, photographs of templates of different types, including black and white – so place your model in the top of the pre-treated tissue. If you can place a piece of glass on top of its design, will be sharper images. If the crystal oscillates around the exit.
Once that is resolved However, you take your creation in the sun and placed in direct sunlight. The length of time needed varies depending on the direction of sunlight and temperature. Without However, 5-10 minutes in a warm, sunny day, or 15-30 minutes on cooler days should be sufficient to make a good sunprint.
Once the draft has been exposed, remove objects, rinse the fabric and then drop to the floor dry (the sun). After the fabric is dry, is ready to use.
And how is it used?
If you created a design Generally, you can cut the fabric in place and use it in patches for your quilt.
Perhaps you have created a model with leaves and flowers that will make a quilt, and you can make a quilt of nature.
When my son was in third grade, her class made sunprints and each child will bring home their treasure. I do not think at the time, but everyone who could be a block on a quilt presented to the teacher at the end of the year.
Your group could make a quilt with each quilt Quilter, contributing sunprint block. Sashing between the blocks, and an interesting border are enough to make a Large quilt – maybe something, even for charity sale.
They are so easy to make and fun to watch grow, at least one must be sunprint experience of each Quilter quilting, even if it becomes more than a quilt for a doll.
