I need information on the best way to clean antique quilt blocks of muslin and calico prints old.?
These are my grandmothers, what are probably over 65 years and not know how old the material was before the construction of blocks. I I found an old box and some have a "color pink "stain from who knows what? I want to finish the assembly of the quilt, but only if the stains out! So, any idea how to clean w / material harmful? Thanks.
Go to your local quilt shop, fabrics Joan PAS or places like that, but a real quilt shop. They know they are manufactured specifically for quilts. They are extremely knowledgeable about quilts, old and new. Quilt shops are more specialized and expensive than the chain stores, but their experience and advice is usually priceless. I have two quilt age 50 over my great-grandmother who hand-wash the quilt soap from my local store. Most points are out. I layer and quilt. Good luck!
