Quilt Pieced Pattern
What are the basics of sewing?

I have been sewing that I have memory. So I thought it would be fun to drive a sewing machine "camp" this summer. When I began to think, I do not know the basics, I know how. Whether to teach sewing to children, Where to start? hand sewing? Lying on a model or create a simple quilt?

Probably start with a sewing machine if you are older than 8 and if you have someone to monitor the use of machines for each machine. Otherwise, I will probably start with hand sewing. Find an easy and attractive project – the making bean bags for a game, make labels for the field name (You can pre-board if you do go this route … you can put together a sandwich of tissues paper, an interface and a support fabric) and add a bead, or pin. Children love to make gifts or something useful, then a package for the drawer the dresser or a small hand-sewn Pincus elastic wrist for a dance are some possibilities. Children also bags to keep the treasures different, my experience … plush-like may be good at this, there is no need to finish cutting the edges and stack cache all kinds of sins to sew. If you are a teacher use of the machine I suggest you do the first document — seam stitching lines right, then bends, then some trends rather serpentine. Because paper is rigid and "hand" is familiar, it tends to be simple to use, usually this is done with lines drawn on paper, but suggest that instead of having to use the paper's edge against the standard 5 / 8 in. / 1.5 cm seam guide markings to not make a habit of needlewatching. Cut irregular oval curves so they can work in the seam inside and outside curves … Simply cut the paper when young were everywhere. Once you have had some success with projects simple that you cut for them, then return and teach the use model and the design and cutting. other thoughts …. Bags had children with two pieces of lightweight fabric, stitching, and pressed. The pocket is then stitched to a shirt purchased. pockets manga seems interesting to children for some reason. A couple of large flowers seem to be fun for girls decent hand-eye coordination / – just use a printed fabric and an interior light. tool aprons (a bit like nails carpenter apron) seems to be a project better than the standard kitchen apron. The handsewing front, puppets seem to be the favorite young seam stitching errors. are inevitable. You I show how to rip, but do not insist that the seams must be defective pulled and redone. (Something like sewing a sleeve torn neckhole do without though) leave the impression that the seams are not reeling in something like ottomans or pockets, and usually when we decide to break the Ottoman phase. However, if a child is frustrated with a web project or been booted so many times is a bit dodgy, I offer to wreck. Some accept the help, others do not … Treatment decisions they make it possible to sew. Enjoy!
