How I can simulate exotic feathers (w / paper, cloth, etc) without having to buy one?

I work at a sculpture and I need more 500 fake feathers. I really wanted to at least three different types, one of them false peacock feathers. However, the purchase of many feathers that is false is simply not practical (They are incredibly expensive!). Is there a way I could make look realistic and "feathers" of paper, cloth or other material cheapish?

Did not You have nothing on the use of a boa? This can help stimulate most of them. Otherwise, you can buy heavier paper and paperboard and small scissors, which are mainly for cutting paper. The cardboard is heavy enough to paint the view of the peacock feather in watercolor. You can overlay the feathers as you do to have a look in three dimensions to their plumage. I would not recommend the use of fabric … would fray.
