Sewing thread is archival safe for your photos?

I'm really in the preservation of my photos that the addition of ornaments to my page looks good if I do not usually fight with free acid / free Lignan paper and stickers. But I really like the design aspect of the role padded with a sewing machine and thread. But I fear that the thread will have acid in it. I have no idea how if applicable. Does anyone know?
